Cryptid Field App
Offline-first encounter logger
OFFLINE

No signal detected.

App works normally offline — captures save to your device.

The offline-first story

Capture works with zero signal.

Signal drops — no problem

No bars. Airplane mode. Mid-canyon. The app keeps working exactly as normal — every tap writes directly to the device's local storage. No spinners. No error screens. No lost work.

Log the capture

Category, description, observer notes, GPS coordinates, voice dictation, photo attachments. Every field works the same offline as online. Saves the instant you hit Submit.

Queued — waiting for signal

Your capture is stored locally with a "Pending" badge. Come back to camp, drive back to the highway, step into Wi-Fi range — the app knows the difference automatically.

Signal returns — syncs itself

The moment connectivity returns, the app pushes every queued capture to the server in a single batch. No manual action required. The badge flips from Pending to Synced.

The capture interface

Built for a phone in your hand.

Log an encounter

Structured capture: category, description, observer notes, location, and voice dictation for hands-free entry. One tap opens the form — even if you're still moving.

GPS coordinates, manual or auto

Tap the pin to grab GPS coordinates from the device. Or type them by hand. Or skip location entirely — the form never blocks submission for a missing field.

Attach photos and recordings

Photos, video clips, audio recordings — attached per capture and stored locally until sync. Captions optional. Nothing is required that slows down the moment.

Who it\'s for

If you work where signal doesn\'t.

Field Research Tools is designed for anyone who captures observations on location — not reconstructed hours later when you\'re back at a desk.

Research teams

Structured data collection for field studies where consistent capture format matters more than connectivity.

Outfitters & guides

Log observations on backcountry routes, flag conditions or incidents, and sync when you're back in range.

Field crews & inspections

Capture site conditions, equipment status, and field notes on location — not reconstructed hours later from memory.

Remote operators

Any operation where the work happens in low or no signal environments and the data needs to make it back reliably.

Offline-first architecture

The app doesn't know what offline means.

IndexedDB stores every capture instantly — no network request on save. The sync layer runs separately, pushing queued captures to the server the moment connectivity returns. Zero configuration. Zero manual steps.

Structured capture

Consistent format without a consistent connection.

Every capture follows the same schema — category, description, notes, location, attachments. That consistency makes the data useful later: searchable, filterable, comparable across sessions and operators.

Managed service

One flat monthly rate. We operate it.

Field Research is a managed service — we configure it for your operation, run the sync backend, and handle updates. Your team uses the app. We keep everything running. You keep the data.
