FAQ
Straight answers
The questions people actually ask — answered directly, without hedging. If something's missing, just ask.
The build fee is a one-time charge that covers everything required to design, build, and deliver your site or system — design, development, testing, and handoff. Scoped and agreed in writing before any work starts.
The monthly rate is a separate, ongoing managed-service fee — it covers hosting, monitoring, updates, fixes, and upgrades. Managed operations start from $500/mo; full infrastructure from $1,299/mo (booking, content, email, site — the technology run and maintained by us; you run your business through it). Those are two different things; you can have one without the other.
One thing worth noting: managed monthly rates are flat. You know what you're paying before it's charged — anything beyond your plan needs written approval first.
You do. This is what we call The Straight Deal, and it's not a marketing line — it's how things actually work:
Your domain is registered in your name and always will be. We configure and manage it; you own it outright. Your site code, your content, your customer records, and your member list are all yours — exported clean, in formats any other provider can use, any time you ask.
The one nuance worth being honest about: the software systems themselves (the booking platform, the content engine) are how we deliver the service — like any service provider, the machinery stays with us. But the data inside them is always yours, and we'll never hold it hostage or charge an exit fee to get it out.
Cancel anytime. We don't do cancel-by-phone mazes, "talk to retention first" flows, or exit fees.
When you leave: your domain transfers out cleanly, your site code is handed over (or stays hosted wherever you take it), and your customer and business data exports in a format any other provider can read. We keep clients by being good at the work, not by locking doors.
If you're on a monthly plan, you pay through the end of your billing period and that's it.
Vision Horizon Enterprises — a small, founder-led team. The same people who answer your emails are the ones who built and operate the systems.
The honest distinction: we run the machinery — the infrastructure, configurations, monitoring, and fixes. You run your business through it. Bookings come to you, mail lands in your inbox, reports show your numbers. The one place we go further is Dispatch: we produce and publish your content end to end, with your approval built in at whatever level you want.
We're not a reseller quietly wrapping another company's SaaS. Modern Explorer and Vision Landworks — our own operating companies — run on the same infrastructure your business would use. When something breaks at 2am for a client, it's probably also broken for us, and we have every incentive to fix it fast.
Yes — and we'll be straight about exactly how.
Dispatch, our content engine product, uses AI to research, draft, and schedule content — with human review built into the workflow before anything publishes. The intake assistant on our contact page is also AI-powered; it gathers information so the real person who follows up can reply with something useful rather than a form letter.
AI is a capability we build with and deliver to clients. It handles the mechanical and repetitive parts; humans are accountable for every deliverable. We don't misrepresent AI output as purely human work, and we're never evasive about it when asked.
We're building in the open ahead of our official launch — prices shown are working founding rates, not finalized launch pricing. They may be adjusted at launch; if you engage us now, we'll talk about locking your rate in.
Every engagement is scoped and priced in writing before you commit — no "we'll figure it out as we go." Fixed scope, fixed price for builds; flat monthly for managed services.
Taste anchors: builds from $2,500; managed operations from $500/mo; full infrastructure from $1,299/mo. Specifics are scoped to your operation — you'll know the full cost before anything's charged.
Honest ranges, no promises:
Essentials build: typically 2–4 weeks from kickoff to delivery. Signature build: 4–8 weeks, depending on the scope of systems being wired in. Enterprise / custom: depends on scope — agreed in writing after a discovery conversation.
These assume timely client feedback at each stage. We can give you a tighter estimate once we know exactly what's being built. We won't quote a timeline we can't defend.
A managed service means we run the machinery — setup, configuration, monitoring, updates, and fixes are all included in the flat monthly rate, not sold back as hourly maintenance tickets.
The honest distinction between "managed" and "run for you": for Azimuth (booking) and Cairn (email), bookings still come to you and mail still lands in your inbox — we keep the infrastructure running so you never have to think about it. For Dispatch (content), we go further: we actually produce and publish your content; you approve as much or as little as you want.
If something breaks, we fix it without a separate invoice. If the platform improves, you get the upgrades. Your job is to run your business; our job is to make sure the machinery does too.
Every system we offer — Azimuth booking, Dispatch content, Cairn email — works standalone with any website you already have. You don't need to hire us to build your site to use them. That's the flexible path: pick only what you need, bolt it onto whatever you're running.
The Flagship — the Integrated Build — is something different. It's a VHE-built site where every system lives behind one login on your domain. You activate only what you want, at its published monthly price, and switch systems on or off as your business changes. Everything is connected at the foundation level — booking, content, email, and your admin portal — rather than wired together after the fact.
The honest tradeoff: Standalone = more flexibility, works with your existing site. Integrated = more effortless, but it makes us your platform. We say that plainly. We earn it with transparent pricing and service that gets better over time, not by trapping you in.
Flagship requires the Foundation managed base — details scoped on engagement. The unified portal is rolling out — first Flagship clients are onboarding with us hands-on.
The three concept builds you can explore — Ridgeline Roastery, Peak Crew Climbing, and Summit Ridge Lodge — are fictional businesses. They are not real clients; they're demonstrations of design range and build quality at each pricing tier (Essentials from $2,500, Signature from $3,500, and Flagship — the Integrated Build — from $5,000).
Summit Ridge Lodge is our Flagship example: it shows a complete site with working booking flow and a member guest area, demonstrating what the Integrated Build concept looks like in practice. The booking flow is a demo only — no real reservations are accepted, no payment information is ever processed or stored, and the demo data resets periodically.
Modern Explorer is a real, live business running our platform. That's the one to look at if you want to see production-quality in actual use.
